Discussion Uni Corner & 6th Form

Anyone been to Warwick?

Hi I’m thinking of studying Morse at Warwick does anyone have any advice what the course was like? Uni as a whole? Also was it the kind of course you can still go out and live the uni life or more constant studying as I’ve heard different things from different people? Thanks!

Hi princessofmaths, I’m a Warwick grad and I would definitely recommend it, great uni in general and loved the course, lots of tutor support and opportunities. Made some friends for life too. In terms of going out etc I did quite a bit of partying in my first year but by year two I ended up having to work extra hard to pull it back after I realised I really had to get my head down and focus if I wanted to make sure I got a 2:1 for more guaranteed job prospects. Still went out quite a few weekends etc but not gonna lie this isn’t the course for anyone who wants to go to uni to do more partying than studying I’m afraid, not easy and certainly not one you can bluff your way through. Lots of hard work required to do well in it. Worth it though. I’m fully qualified now and just about to buy my dream house! Definitely recommend Warwick to anyone asking, strongly recommend you go on the open days when they come around and take a look. You ll see for yourself whether you like the general vibe and what’s on offer but it’s a lovely campus and I don’t know anyone from my course who didn’t enjoy it. In a nutshell, course was hard work but still had good fun and it’s a great place to study.

Thanks starflower that really helps! I’m gonna go on the open day next year. And congrats on the success and house! Just one more question please can I ask do you think I’d be in trouble work wise if I go out on the weekends or is it that I ll be ok long as I put the work in and don’t go out every night? Thanks!

Thanks princess, yeah you ll be fine having a social life at weekend it’s more a case of just as long as you’re not going out every night with lectures or tutorials next day and definitely keep yourself well organised from the outset in terms of study plan etc. I’d also advise steering clear of any mega weekend benders etc around exam times cos end of the day it’s just a few weeks of your life and then you can let loose afterwards lol. Hope that helps.

Thanks again yes it does. Phew I thought I might have to stay in every weekend lol, so I guess just more about moderation and careful planning. Kind of along the lines of what I already do now (I’m in lower sixth form) so think I should be able to strike a good balance.

No you won’t be just sat in studying all night every weekend, least not unless you want to be, so don’t worry about that! As you say just all about doing the party side in moderation really and keeping on top of your studies from the start so you don’t fall behind and find yourself on the backfoot like I did in second year, am wishing you all the very best with your studies anyway!

Thanks for the good advice will do and same to you
