Job description

Experience needed

Our clients Insurance consulting practice provides consultancy services to the Life and General insurance markets. Their clients range from small niche providers to FTSE 100 insurers, predominantly based in the UK. It is the fastest growing area within the company and has significant support to continue to grow. Their services include, Chief Actuary, Appointed Actuary, Lloyds  Signing Actuary and Reviewing Actuary for a number of UK Life Insurers as well as M&A and Data Analytics.


You will assist in all aspects of the actuarial and consultancy advice provided by the Life Team.  You will be required to:


  1. Carry out data validation, including the development, documentation and maintenance of any necessary systems.
  2. Carry out insurance experience analysis, including the development, documentation and maintenance of any necessary systems.
  3. Carry out calculation of technical provisions and SCR.
  4. Carry out financial projections.
  5. Profit test new products.
  6. Draft reports on the above analyses.
  7. Carry out one-off projects and research from time to time.


We are looking for an actuarial student to join the team who may be just part qualified having recently completed the CT exams or a student who is about to be or who recently has qualified; or somewhere inbetween.


Any of the following skill set is of interest:


  • Solvency II regulations and reporting
  • Solvency and Financial Condition Reports
  • Product development.
  • ORSAs
  • Actuarial systems development.


Additionally the candidate should be able to


  • Work within a team environment.
  • Communicate technical ideas to non-technical staff.
  • Learn quickly and absorb new ideas.
  • Contribute to the development of the team technically and commercially.


However most importantly is finding a consultant who understands how their role impacts their clients wider business model. How what they do on a day to day basis as part of an ongoing process is directly relevant to the wider organisation.

The competencies below are the minimum required and are a sub-set of the full behavioural competencies against which an individual is assessed.
